Buttercup

Buttercup was fostered by Cindy, who realized that she had found her true soulmate and adopted her 21 days later! Here they are together enjoying a celebration walk with Buttercup’s new playmates, Bonny and Lucas. Buttercup is an unaffected carrier of Batten Disease – a fatal, inherited disorder of the nervous system that affects dogs and young children. Children suffering from Batten disease become blind, bedridden and demented; they typically die in their late teens or early twenties. Buttercup’s research family is studying gene and enzyme therapies for affected dogs, and an enzyme therapy to treat affected children is currently in clinical trials. We think you two are perfect together, Buttercup and Cindy! We wish you both and Bonny and Lucas lots of love, joy and fun walks together! Thanks for giving our little hero a great home, Cindy!
